One of our strategic goals for the past year or two has been to work on expanding support for languages other than English. Mostly, we’ve been investing in newly-cast fonts that have accent schemes for various languages, but we’ve also been seeking out old stock (20th century castings) for the fonts that we already have at the press. This has been pretty challenging, but we’re hoping that we can make progress with this over the course of the next few years. When we inherited Huskiana, the fonts were English-language distributions only. New castings come from Patrick Reagh, Skyline Foundry, and Swamp Press. More will arrive before the end of the year!

We currently have:

Bembo, 12pt (Spanish, French, German)
Bernhard Fashion, 18pt (Spanish)
Bodoni Bold, 18pt (Spanish)
Cherokee, 36pt, 24pt, 14pt (Cherokee)
Embossing Braille (American Braille)
Hebrew, 30pt, 12pt (Hebrew, Yiddish)
Sans Serif Light, 36pt, 18pt (Spanish, French)
Worrell Uncial, 12pt (Greek, Coptic)

Which, admittedly, is a very small portion of our overall type holdings. But we’re going to keep looking and hopefully in a couple of years we will have pretty robust offerings. Northeastern students, let us know if there’s a language you’d like to print in and we can obtain type for!
