On Valentine’s Day we held two events. In the morning, prospective Ph.D. students in the English and History Departments came by to print a Pablo Neruda poem set by our press assistant, Emma. The composition uses 18pt Sans Serif Light from Skyline Press, which has Spanish-language accent extensions. We printed her forme on the Pearl, using a lovely purple ink we got from Boxcar Press a while back. We left this forme set up for the afternoon event, which our press assistant Olivia organized. Olivia pre-printed a reproduction of a medieval illustration in various colors. Students came to print Valentine’s cards on the Showcard press with some of wood type fonts — we’ve got a mystery Clarendon that made a debut that afternoon.
